Long scrolling map of traditional clothing
For the September issue of Harper's Bazaar China, I created an illustration in the form of long scroll about the Chinese traditional clothing culture, which is becoming more and more popular among generation Z.
Taking inspiration from ancient Chinese painting, this series of works uses an Ink Painting composition, with lots of white space and curves to connect each city and landscape.
Although the characters are dressed in traditional clothes, they are living a modern urban life, taking selfies on their mobile phones, drinking coffee, reading the news on their ipads and so on.
By doing so, I wanted to echo the cultural collision between the past and the present.
