LECTURE PAVILION IN MADRID

Un ClarO en el bOsque
Pladur Competition 2008  -  ETSAM  - 3rd Prize
I began theproject by analysing Retiro's park in Madrid to generate some initial ideas. Istudied the different paths and routes through the park, the different peopledensities within it, and the topography.
I selected anarea with interesting views to a lake on the north side of the plot. It is aquiet place far away from the main routes of the park and with lots of greenspace around it. I thought it would an ideal place to build a lecture pavilionfor the general public.
The plot hada triangular shape without any trees or vegetation at it’s center. I called theproject "Un claro en el bosque" which means a clearing in the wood. These two features were the starting point of the project.
I beganoverlapping an isometric grid on the plot because it matched perfectly with thetriangular shape of the plot. I aimed to keep the clearing area in the middleof the plot so the building was located inbetween the trees following theperimeter of the plot. The clearing area was the center of the project. All thepavilions had views to it.
I tried todesign a project with minimum impact on it’s surroundings. The structure ismade of sleeper train pieces screwed into each other so they could be easilyremoved and reused. I thought with a vegetal thermal insulation like"cannatech". The facades are made by different types of"pladur". It is explained in more detail with the drawings.
MICRO ACTIONS

Micro actions, in Spanish "Microactuaciones" is a subject that I carried out in the Architecture Technical University of Madrid (ETSAM) during the second semester in 2008.
We had to choose a project made by ourselves in the university and developed it into a Final Plan Set. I chose the competition "A lecture pavilion in Madrid" that I had done some months before.
