Agroecology is such an interesting concept, because it does not only focus on single techniques or measures, but takes on a much broader approach: the agricultural production systems. These systems encompass aspects of bio-physical as well as socio-economic nature of the principles of design and management of sustainable agriculture and food systems. It is a transdisciplinary field that includes the ecological, socio-cultural, technological, economic and political dimensions of food systems, from production to consumption (Source: FAO Agroecology Knowledge Hub).
In my work for NGOs and social businesses, I come across different aspects of Agroecology all the time. Personally I really like this holistic and integrated approach, as it includes the role of the people and society.
