Inescapable - Short Film
Inescapable is a story of a girl is drawing a suspect portrait who raped her to express the mood. The story begins with a girl sitting behind a table and starts drawing a portrait. Through the process of drawing, I also provided flashbacks to her painful memories.

During the shooting stage, I separated my scenes into two parts—indoor and outdoor. For the indoor scenes, I only use one lamp light on the right corner towards the heroine, which I try to represent the police interrogation room and create enclosed environment to delivery a sense of pressure and tension to audiences. For the outdoor scenes, I used a gimbal with my camera to shoot a long trace shot that the heroine walking along the street. And the lighting part I tried to keep the background dark with a highlight on her white shirt.

During the editing stage, I used cross cut to link her memories while she is drawing. I also did colour correction. I changed colour tone of outdoor scenes into cold blue which can match with the evening and give a feeling of danger. The colour tone of indoor scenes is warm orange which embodies her situation is safe. In addition, the audios in this video are constructed by different sound effects online as my original audios are noisy.

Overall, this is a story that a girl went to police station to report the case after she was raped and she was forcing herself to remember that memory in order to draw down the criminal’s face. The reason why I chose this idea is I want girls to be brave and I also want everyone else can see that girls are brave.
