TOMBINO – DISPLAY TYPEFACE

Inspiration can strike anywhere, just like it did when I was walking the streets of Florence, Italy and noticed that the manhole covers had so much character to them. I documented as many different types of manhole covers as I came across and found one that looked like the shapes could be the building blocks for letterforms. 

“Tombino” is the Italian word for “manhole”.
