My concept behind these photographs was the idea of losing touch with reality due to the lack of connectivity and human interaction during the pandemic. It essentially looks at the disconnection rather than the connection.
The series looks at feelings of isolation, being vulnerable and detached from the world around you, and feeling a bit like a prisoner of your own mind. It can be interpreted in many ways, based on the viewers experiences throughout the pandemic.
The idea was to have a series of photographs that had little to no link or connection between them to emphasise the feeling of disconnect and evoke feelings of chaos and confusion upon trying to find the link. This is associated with how the people of the world felt with the constant influx on information, misinformation and overall panic when trying to discern what is true and what is false.
My overall idea is achieved through images that feel as though they are a chaotic jumble of random images, but in reality, they all convey feelings of disconnect, be it in the sense of being disconnected with oneself, disconnected with the world outside or around you, and being disconnected with reality during what felt like one long day or bad dream.
