Branding and Identity | Luster

Branding and Identity (Additional) | Luster
Brief Summary
This project required of us to conceptualise and create an engaging and visually appropriate packaging design solution for our existing brand (created during IOW 300.2). It was also encouraged that students tweak and extend the visual language created during the previous project to further enhance the brand and eventual brand packaging during this project (IOW 300.3). The final packaging solution for this project needed to be extendable. In other words students had to create and show a range of flavours and variations in the brand family.

Design Strategy
This project required us to design and render in 3D the products we conceptualised within our previous project (IOW 300.2).
With this task in mind I set out to design suitable containers and packaging for my product, a nail polish, that visually captures the vision I had in mind for my product. The final product lineup consists of 3 distinct nail polish colours each with their own unique bottles, labels and packaging. All of these elements fit within the concept of rebirth and renewal that were main themes during the Renaissance, the concept around which the product and brand was created.

Luster Mission Statement
At Luster, we labour to bridge the gap between the days-of-yore and the present through the form of nail polish. We persistently seek to expand our range of colour pigments inspired by the ‘’rebirth’’ period known today as the Renaissance. Our calling is to truly inspire our patrons to create their own masterpieces, using the subtle art form of nail art. We aspire to aid our patrons on their journey of self expression and desire to assist in boosting their confidence through the use of our product range.
We here at Luster wish to act as a catalyst to spark creativity in any person no matter their gender. We strive to be known for our passion for quality products, our diverse range of colour pigments as well as our willingness to learn from the past so as to continuously improve our product formulas.

Packaging design process work
To truly capture the essence of Luster, the font pairings has to convey both elegance and friendliness. Thus, Source Serif Variable is paired with Century Gothic in Bold for all headings and Sub-headings respectively and Century Gothic Regular is to be used for all body copy.

1.Quick Dry
All Luster products are formulated to minimize the amount of time it takes for each applied coat to dry. This minimizes the possibility for accidents to occur which in turn preserves the nail art designs that our patrons create.

2. Lasting Shine
All Luster products have wonderfully formulated recipes that help ensure that all the Luster nail polishes have a shiny finish that lasts long after it is first applied.

3. Long Lasting
Luster products are made using only the best formulas which means that all Luster nail polishes are very durable. Patrons leading an active lifestyle can carry on without the worry of their nail polish chipping away quickly.

Packaging and Bottles

The packaging displayed below is a representation of one of the three ranges found in our product lineup. All three ranges have the same dimensions and general application (type, pattern, etc.) with the exception of the size and shape of the cutout on the front of the packaging.
