Landmark Community Theatre Logo

Parts & Labor presented this concept in response to this nonprofit community theatre group’s need for a simpler logo that reflected its value to the local community.

The old logo (below left) used an illustration of the Thomaston Opera House, the primary venue of the Landmark Community Theatre (LCT). It was problematic as the opera house and theatre group are actually separate entities. It failed to convey LCT’s impact on its community, and didn't function well at small sizes.

Our Discovery Phase focused on community theatre as theatre both for the community and by the community. It provides the opportunity for non-professionals to participate in a live theatre production, and often serves as a haven for folks who feel they don’t fit in elsewhere.

This new concept (below right) was one of several created as a potential solution. It utilizes a simple, memorable brand mark joining the L with a star poised on the serif of the L like a dancer on pointe. This dynamic tension evokes the magic of live theatre, a spark of creativity, and the moment when the house lights dim and the stage lights take over. This beacon calls out, beckoning all to enjoy the performing arts that LCT offers, either as audience members or as part of the production.
