Wolfgang Weingart — Promotional Design
(1941-2021)
Purpose: Create the communication of a large exhibition about a designer, his work and his time.
The communication must include: a large poster (mupi or outdoor), the cover of the catalogue/monograph, the exhibition ticket and a fourth device of choice.
Methodology: Study the author, his social and political context, as well as the characteristics of his work (artefacts, typography, iconography, formats, colours, others).
Wolfgang Weingart questions the rational and functional doctrine of the Swiss Design, movement mainly known for the economy of resources, the geometrical abstraction and, above all, the belief in the typographic grid.
'A grid forces me into a cage.'
'J’aime organiser le chaos. Une grande partie de mon travail est un chaos organisé.'
