An exploration of my personal illustration style through a series of three angelic, feminine portraits. These posters are my new age, digital interpretation of art nouveau. As in classical art nouveau I have focussed of feminine motives, excessive details, metallic finishes. However, I chose to illustrate my friend Adam in drag for the blue portrait as I feel feminine motives and beauty are not restricted to Women, or traditional depictions of them. The limited colour palette consisting of mostly one hue allowed me to once again modernize the style and make it more graphic, as well as allowing attention to detail, texture, and shadow.
These illustrations were created for my personal business selling illustration prints and custom portraits. The illustrations took me roughly three hours each. Each of the elements, the detailed faces, to the cloud backgrounds were all hand illustrated from scratch. Reference images were used to help model the faces off of. The faceses are the most detailed element and took the most time to create. The clouds were created in layers and use a repeat pattern.
