The Engineers of Nintendo Are Quite Pessimistic About the Switch Joy-Con Drift

Albeit the fact that the company has promised that there have been improvements in Switch Joy-Con, the engineers have a different story to tell. The engineers working for the prominent game designing company called “Nintendo” have suggested that there is a slight possibility that the drift of the Joy-Con device from the company might never be fixed.

But they were quoted as saying that this problem has stayed for long and they are incessantly dealing with this problem.

Gaming is all about an immersive experience, and if anything hampers distort the gamers’ experience, they do not appreciate it. One of the most well-known defects in the Nintendo device is something regarded as “Joy-Con Drift.” It has stayed as a persistent defect, and engineers have been continuously dealing with the problem of false inputs. In simple words, it is a gaming phenomenon, which lets gamers observe false inputs being fed into the system when the players are not even in control of the joysticks.

Surprisingly, gamers are not sure whether the company has been serious about this issue or not because they have not said much regarding this matter. Some section of fans was speculating whether the problem has been fixed by the newly included device called “Nintendo Switch OLED,” which has the OLED display.

However, some section of the fans has got a big shock after the company has broken its silence recently. The announcement of Nintendo has come as a big surprise and has told fans that the drift problem of the Joy-Con may never be completely resolved.

The announcement came at a Q&A section with the Nintendo executive regarding the development of the device called “Nintendo Switch OLED.” The company’s executive also did state that Nintendo has been working hard to better the version of the Joy-Con, which first came out. Some steady upgrades have been given to the Joy-Con device, and all the efforts are being made to make the Joy-Con device further reliable.

If you have ever used the joysticks from Nintendo, you would know the model that came out in 2019 along with the Switch Lite are not similar to what was there in the first Nintendo switch that came out in 2017. There have been incessant upgrades to the joysticks, and they have become better with each new model.

As long as the problem of Joy-Con Drift is concerned, the execute of Nintendo named Shiota gave the analogy of the car and said that as the car moves, its tires get susceptible to wear and tear over time. So, there is a question of the co-existence of operability and durability. Shiota suggests that this is a very complex problem, and they do tackle it every other day.

In short words, the Nintendo’s Joy-Con Drift is expected to stay for long, and Nintendo’s devices will always be susceptible to problems as the users continue to use it over time.
The company has also given some statements and has said that the latest joysticks equipped with OLED screens are the newest addition to the continuous up-gradation in Nintendo joysticks. Other models of joysticks come with upgraded bases such as the Switch Lite, Pro Controllers, Nintendo Switch, and Pro Controllers.

Toru Yamashita, who is the deputy general manager of the company, has made a statement and has revealed that the analog stick-parts of the joysticks have continuously been updated, and further upgrades are being added. Yamashita also noted that for the repairs as well, the company has a plant to use only the latest version of the analog sticks.

The Nintendo Switch with OLED screen will be released soon, and only time can tell whether that will bring any change to the Joy-Con drift problem. But, if we go by the latest reports, then the company has almost accepted the problem of “Joy-Con Drift” and would only work in conjunction with the problem whilst trying to solve it over time.

All the gamers should be prepared to continuously experience the Joy-Con Drift phenomenon some more.

Conclusion

Apart from latency, one of the problems that have bugged the gamers is the drifting in the Joy-Con switch. Though the company has added several upgrades to the device, engineers are not quite sure whether the problem can go away soon.
