Raum Yearly Magazine Cover Illustration

The yearly magazine of Raum in Utrecht is out! For this publication I made the cover and supportive illustrations about the balance between making policy whilst listening to inhabitants in the city.
It’s basicly a big interactive installation in the public space. The installation has big intricate slides wich you can take a part of. But you never quite know where you’ll end up on forehand. Giving you a new perspective.
It attracts all sorts of people from all sorts of places.
This big interactive installation is symbolic for the process of design research. The main subject of the magazine.

It feels less straightforward and more conceptual than my usual work. And I found alot of love for drawing crazy killer slides!
For the essay inside of the magazine I made the supportive illustrations. The essay is about the expansion of a city, pushing through new projects and supporting initiatives from inhabitants.

The essay suggests we look at the subject from a new perspective: As if we are writing a story. That’s why I made the story into the illustration. You could even call it a one-page comic.

Below you see three of my favourite panels.
