Downtown Coffee & Eatery Branding Case Study
Case Study: Coffee Shop

Name: Downtown Brewers
Owner: Sam Johnson
Established: 1999
Location: Toronto, Ontario

Notes
Downtown Brewers is a well established coffee shop in the Kensington Market area which is home to artists, and creative minds. The area has a lot of character and prides it self on its uniqueness. Their clients are predominantly a younger crowd from the ages of 18 - 30, however they have been seeing more diversity in the age of their clients. Downtown Brewers main product is brewed coffee followed by their roasted beans.

Downtown Brewers is looking for a new logo and logotype to be placed on a range of products, from their coffee cups to their window displays.

Most importantly, Downtown Brewers will be amending their current name to Downtown Coffee & Eatery. Recently they have had an increase in volume of orders for food and have expanded their menu to accommodate the new interest/ They would like for their new name and logo to emphasis this change in order to capitalize on this new market.

Design Decisions:
Kensington market is a very trendy area, so it was important to parallel this trendiness. Downtown Coffee & Eatery has already been well established that they serve great coffee over the counter, so it wasn’t as important to reemphasis this in the logo, instead I looked to captivate their new decision to increase their volume of food output. The knife and fork are a solid symbol of dining, along with a more understated coffee mug to remind customers that at the core, Downtown Coffee & Eatery still serves the same great coffee. I chose the font Bebas Regular to compliment the attitude of the Coffee shop as it is a great display font that is modern, slender, and loud.
