“Correlated” is an alabaster container set produced in collaboration with Francisco Charles’ workshop in Galeana, Nuevo León. The name is derived from the overlap of circles and squares with soft corners that insert into each other that allow a variety of compositions. The containers can adopt different uses and functions, working together or by themselves.

Using design as a tool to maintain artisanal work relevant today, the project sought out to generate a dialogue between designer and artisan to create a contemporary object that represents the quality of it’s craftsmanship. This process of creation expands the design language commonly associated with Alabaster and provides new commercial opportunities and further collaborations for the artisan.

“Correlated” is being exhibited at the Museo de Arte Popular in México City as part of the show “Arte/Sano entre Artistas” until February 23, 2014.
