Teacher Training Branding

One8 Energized Teacher Training Module Design

This project was focused on how to excite our teachers to get involved in new training modules. With the understanding that some of our long standing teachers were looking for an invigorating and relatable new module, we took on the challenge with a month to make it happen. Branding, activities, icons, and videos. A large part of this branding was embodying our new DEIB movement. Making sure we take into consideration ALL of the diverse clients that may use our content.
Hero images shown above would be the initial image our teacher see when entering each respective module. (left to right Cyber, Engineering, and Design and Modeling)
I worked alongside our other graphic designer Melissa Cardenas, to find a style that would work for our short timeframe while weaving in colors and style consistent with PLTW branding. Using the pathways main colors to differentiate them from one another and maintain a quick interchangeable style template. We wanted the teacher to be the focus. Initially, we only highlighted the teacher, but moved forward with expanding to their interactions with the students.

This decision would later help us continue the theme with some abstract characters we developed in order to guide the teachers through communication barriers with their students.
An icon set was created based on our vibrant style that would appear along the pages of content as call outs for teachers to interact with the page.
Next we created the overview styles. Two for each unit that would be flexible with the title that pairs with a footer at the bottom of the page. Energetic and light, it gave life to the mission behind our Energized Training.

Each pathway contained it's own look and feel while maintaining the overall established style. background color consistency, spot color, items with nods to the courses activities, and teacher centered focus.
Another challenge was crafting a unique style that would fit the course for High School and Elementary without putting more strain on our designers and writers. With the simplistic consistency of the banners, we managed to create a very flexible design that has inspired better design for our internal courses.
