Challenge

Our task was to create a brand identity for the NSCD Student Union. The brand needed to engage, encourage and welcome current and future students across a broad range of campaigns and messages. The brand needed to be instantly recognisable and allow for future use by the NSCD team.

Solution

We developed the brand message: ‘From Here We Move’. The NSCD SU is a place where students learn, express and develop their practice, start their careers and become part of a community – collaborating with and gaining greater experience from others. By focusing on students at NSCD, the brand is strengthened by having this deeper meaning behind it. This concept developed across a range of brand collateral, providing NSCD with a comprehensive and versatile brand, made for students.

An ‘X’ logo marks-the-spot whilst simplifying a complex name, and a custom typeface conveys movement and personal expression; contemporary dance.

Social media channels open up the brand and show more versatility in the concept of ‘from here’. We created a range of templates for the NSCD team to use, along with animated idents for further engagement. The brand message reflects students journey’s and how the SU is a starting point for their careers. We developed a custom typeface which feels contemporary and has hints of dance movement within it.

Posters show the brand in action – with use of bright and positive colours, honest student imagery and the brand’s custom typeface. Deliverables feel full of personality and really engage students.
