WAL-LED: The LED Wallet
Description
WAL-LED is a wallet that lights up when you open it.
It can be used as a flashlight or as a fun lamp.
Or, it may also be handy in a low light environment!
Open the wallet to reveal a beautiful array of LED lights.
Close it and the lights will shut off.
Construction
Foamcore was used as the main material for construction. It makes up for the front and rear panels on both sides of the wallet. A cardboard piece was used for the rear bend in order to allow for maximum flexibility. The entire material was covered up with a soft, black cloth.
There is a 3D printed card holder on the inner right panel. It has a Velcro strap for card enclosure.
On the outside, a 2D vinyl design is featured on the front of the wallet.
Design Process
The wallet was planned to feature a single LED strip in the centre. However, this did not allow for enough light to be distributed around the wallet. Placing the LED strip near the top of the wallet along the ridge allowed for light to shine across the wallet, evenly lighting up the interior.
