Alongside Winkel & Balktick and Third Rail Projects, I worked as Production Manager for an interactive dance theater production, commissioned by Espolón, called Memento Mori. I produced the Los Angeles chapter, the second performance in a one-week run, with other shows in Austin, San Francisco and New York. The invite-only happening was part immersive theater, part Day Of The Dead feast, and part dance party.
All invitees were instructed to meet at a rendezvous point (Las Perlas at 6th & Main) between 8-9pm. At 9pm, a Mariachi band swept in and led all attendees to 5th & Spring: 150 unsuspecting attendees walked 2 city blocks of downtown LA together, each holding paper lanterns. They arrived at the epic setting of Majestic Halls (once a Bank Of America in the 1920's), which had been luxuriously decorated for a three-act dance theatre performance. The show took the captive audience through the cycle of life and death, family, love and the philosophies behind Dia de los Muertos. Afterwards, everyone was treated to a full-on Day Of The Dead celebration, with music (courtesy of Smiles Davis), dancing, specialty Espolón cocktails and authentic Mexican cuisine.
