The first illustration is a redraw of a photograph took by Christine Spengler in 1979 in the Casbah of Algiers. The tag on the wall saying "Vive l'amour" which means "There's nothing better than love" automatically inspired me to draw this two-illustrations series of my characters Sid Ali and Christian, displaying their affection for eachother. It was important for me to draw this outdoor display of affection and tenderness as it is a great taboo in the Algerian society, whether for straight or lgbtq+ people, hence the feeling of intimacy conveyed by the empty streets.
