Using simple geometries, we were to develop 101 iterations of a basic utilitarian object - a table or similarly scaled piece of furniture through computational iteration. The object must also have a secondary material to provide contrast and context to our generated form. For my utilitarian object, I designed a side table and we used the tissue tessellation add-on on Blender to generate 101 iterations. This project was about exploring ways of automating the iterative process. With computational systems, the designer takes on the role of curator, assessing generated forms and making decisions and exercising judgements about which are fit for purpose.
