The EnCompass Institute is a non-profit organization based in Portland Oregon promoting the child development theory of Natural Learning Rhythms. Their previous identity and website were not conveying the organization's current mission and philosophy to their target audience. Over the course of an eleven week term we had the opportunity  to completely re-design both a new identity and website for the organization.

In order to appeal to a demographic including parents and corporate parters our solution for their logo had to be both professional and personable. We chose to represent the three foundational parts of the organization as interlocking puzzle pieces,  a motif that is carried out over the rest of the site.

We also worked directly with the organization to consolidate and simplify their text content so that it could be easily understood by a wide range of people. "Tabs" of content are used throughout the site in order to facilitate each page's main content.
One of the most significant challenges for the EnCompass Institute was the ability to manage and update their own content. To solve this we built a custom content management system that is both robust and easy to use. All of the editing is done "in line" via a "Thickbox"  window which allows the user to see exactly what they are editing. This feature becomes especially useful when adding complex events, PDF files, or updating the store with new content.
