India is in a state of flux, and steeped in contradiction. Wander off the main streets and the apparent normality (or what can only be considered normality in a country going through the rigours of rapid economic growth while firmly grounded in political corruption) soon descends into a miasma of unregulated chaos bearly within the references of William S Burroughs' wiritng.

I started these shots during the clean, bright morning commute for many Indians, then gradually crept away into the fetid shadows of the evening until I was eventually benighted and became hopelessly lost... but never afraid.
