ZINE 如胶似漆

Inseparable pair, a Chinese idiom, means clinging to each other like glue and lacquer. It is used to describe blazing emotion and inseparability. It mostly refers to conjugal love and is originated from Records of the Historian · Collected Biographies of Lu Zhonglian and Zou Yang and The Nineteen Ancient Poems · Guests Come from Afar.

We hope to express such an abstract concept through concrete means. Therefore, we have collected 20 old books. Some of them are dilapidated, some are exquisite and gorgeous, some lack pages, and some are yellow and old. Just like love, they are unique and unrepeatable. Twenty old books constitute ten combinations, symbolizing two imperfect people who become perfect because of love. There is only one pair in the whole universe.

Two books of different sizes, thicknesses, colors and contents are poured with colored glue. For example, the heat of love melts each other’s hearts. The integrated color overflows from the books, which attaches the two books tightly together for a long time and will never be separated. Love is a matter of two people. Others can’t go through it, and it does not need to be understood. As a bystander, it will be sufficient for us to send our sincere blessings.

如胶似漆，中国成语，意思是指像胶和漆那样黏结。形容感情炽烈，难舍难分。多指夫妻恩爱。出自《史记·鲁仲连邹阳列传》，《古诗十九首·客从远方来》。

我们希望通过具象的手法表达如此抽象的概念，因此我们收集了二十本旧书，他们有些破烂不堪、有些精致艳丽、有些缺少页面、有些泛黄陈旧，就如每段爱情，独一无二又不可重复。二十本旧书组成十个组合，象征两个不完美的人，因相爱而变得完美，全宇宙只此一对。

两本不同尺寸、厚度、颜色、内容的书，浇上带有色彩的胶，如因爱而迸发的热将彼此的心融化，化为一体的色彩从书中溢出，将两本书紧紧黏结在一起，天长地久，永不分离。爱情，本来就是两个人的事，旁人无法翻阅，也不需要被理解。作为一位旁观者，我们只需要献上真挚的祝福，即可。
