Alejas - austrālija (cover)

Artwork design for Latvian electronica band Alejas' second album "austrālija"- a meditation on themes of solitude, emptiness and bittersweet contemplation for distance.
The starting point was the band's initiation to work with Google Street View images of Australian deserts. To more thoroughly tell the story, the central element of a hay rack, a a structure characteristic to Latvian countryside geography which, when placed in a barren plane, loses all of its function and becomes a confused and lonesome being.
However, this construction is merely a transporting thought of a place- what if we were elsewhere? It remains aproximate and unclear, as if it was a distant mirage created by heat.
Meanwhile the hay rack visually plays with the geometry of the three-piece band, as well as serving as an alternative title card, placing both names' first letters against each other- "alejas" / "austrālija".

For the project I also was asked to create accompanying banners for social media and Bandcamp, animation loops for Spotify and YouTube. An interestigly-packaged physical release was also considered.
