NYC Photobook
The project that follows is rather personal as it presents the photographies and videos taken on a short family trip to NYC. A short fictional story interpreted as if an infinite scroll through the six days we spent at the Big Apple in which the viewer must confront the subjectivity that overtakes its position of material objectivity. The story explores this shift in perspective by disposing the pictures according to three dimensions. In order to create a disassociation between a stored knowledge of the subject and its representation, it also investigates the relationship between form and content, treating the elements featured as discrete entities. Printed on two different types of paper the images are shown on its best, isolated from the notes section gathered on the end for the sake of the photographies themselves. The short videos are displayed horizontally in order to maintain the dialog's flow.
On its materiality the soft cover photo album includes a reversible postcard that plays with the dust jacket's holes undercovering the letters forming the shorthand 'NYC', the faces of my family ( which are printed on th book’s cover) or a picture.
