So here’s how it all started. Me and my copy intern were sipping the regular Nescafe coffee from the coffee machine at office and talked about how deeply we miss drinking filter coffee. And so it began,
the love for filter coffee and the urge to do something more with it. We got our mentors to hear us out and suprisingly they agreed to mentor us on this project apart from the ongoing ones in office. This gave us a little push to start somewhere.
We started with names, location, character sketch, situations, of how the coffee house would actually look, of new concepts that could be introduced. For example, take away filter coffee right in the morning before you leave for office, coffee with a twist where little things from the south-indian cusine would be added as ingredients to the coffee to make it more interesting.
We came up with a character who loved coffee and made everything be about him and coffee.
A number of doodles, lots of talking and surfing the internet to gather information from everywhere possible. We found people in office who were from the south who shared their stories of their first encounter with filter coffee. From grandfathers to girlfriends we heard it all.
So finally, ‘Sukku’s Kappi’ was born.
The next few shots take you through the entire journey.
This is a hypothetical project, mentored by Ms. Prerna Mehra, Creative Controller at Ogilvy, Gurgaon.
