Product Description :
This is our final design, the RocketVan. The two-in-one salt and pepper grinder is designed for people in campervans, either living or on holiday. The design is made out of a stainless-steel body with a wood like finish coming from the brush finish on the material. The aesthetics come from our target market research where we noticed that there was a lot of wood featured in the environment. We have implemented a pattern which reflects the simple linear geometry seen in many campervans. The internal housing of this design is made from ABS plastic, this is a low-cost material that can be injection moulded. It has good mechanical properties making it durable enough to withstand the campervan environment. The batteries are slotted into their webbing and connected to the motor. The batteries sit 0.2mm away from the button plate. This is so that when the buttons are depressed, the button plate will complete the circuit of the batteries, thus powering the motor, speed reducer and then the shaft, which results in salt and pepper being grinded for the user. The grinder can be adjusted from the underside of the product with twistable adjusters for either a coarser or finer salt and pepper grind. The lid, made from PLA plastic is made to have an interference fit with the bottom of the base. This ensures it will be secure and prevent any mess, whilst being easy to remove when being used. The user will just need to line up the lid with the bottom of the mill and apply a small force to push it into place.
