Journey of two bronze sculptures from drawing to finish.

An initial sketch is done first

Small maquettes are then made
A small wooden base is cut and thin armature wire inserted into small drilled holes. Magic-sculpt is then added to strengthen armature and provide a good base for  the next material

Super Sculpey is then added on top and sculpted into a small maquette to get a rough idea of shape and pose

The maquettes are then painted with a bronze effect paint to get an idea of the surface texture wanted
These can now be used to help sculpt the full size versions

Sections of wood are cut and then screwed into ply. Holes are drlled and then armature wire inserted and fine aluminium mesh wrapped over

Then hot wax is built up

The wax hares are now finished
So now to the bronze foundry..................................

Silicone and fiberglass moulds

Wax castings

Ceramic mould has been made and the final bronze casts made - Milwyn Castings     http://www.milwyn.co.uk/milwyn/Home.html
