Suburbia_.EXE

Hello! This is a body of work that I have been working on since the beginning of lockdown. It is a series of photo imagery and compositions that I have arranged in this manner, in order to enhance the mood that is conveyed through these photographic compositions. The location I had chosen as part of the project was the suburbs around my home; the reason for this being that I resonate deeply with the specified location on personal levels. The main concept that I was initially trying to work into the project/brief was the idea of how one can become both personally detached and yet also personally connected to their surroundings on an environmental level. As the project progressed onwards, I really wanted to work with the idea of how one’s environment and surroundings can actually seem to comfort one’s self, rather than to disorientate them. In terms of technical post-production, I really wanted to experiment with cooler hues and colours within the visual appeal of the project; the reason for this being that I wanted viewers to feel less discomfort and experience the photos at ease. I also added in several black and white photos, in order to balance out the mood of the compositions. A recurring motif I noticed that may appear now and then are objects that seem to be out of place within the frame of the image, which heavily contrast in itself and the surroundings they lie in.
