The prompt for Challenge 1 was the word Samba, which made me think about having fun, so looked up some synonyms for fun and found the word that would be the subject of most of the exercises throughout this series: high jinks.
Filson Pro was an easy font choice for this fun word. I love the tension between the K and S and the wonky tail of the J. To amp up the energy a bit, I tightened the kerning between the letters.
After staring at the words for awhile, the G started to resemble a laughing face, which inspired me to round the corners on that letter alone. I placed an ellipsis within the counter of the G to complete the face, and repeated the ellipses twice more to tie it all together. The ellipsis motif appears in most of the designs for this challenge.
