The Problem, a charity fighting homelessness in Australia, The Good Box, has approached our team in order to present issues within the company that they want tackled. A few were presented such as concerns about the environmental impact that the product has. We approached this issue keeping in mind that they did want a complete redesign of their product, rather a way to further enhance it. With this in mind we thought of ways we can increase the reusability of the box itself. Not only did we strive for an extra use out of the box, but we also wanted to bring more focus to community connection; so we came up with 'The Good Note'
By enabling the end user to show gratitude and even set up a connection to the donator, we hoped to evoke a sense of proactiveness in the community to help solve this issue of homelessness. As a group we believed this would help as there is currently a stigma around homelessness and how these people ended up in this situation in the first place. Therefore, by allowing the homeless people to be heard by being able to write out their story and have a connection with their community we hoped to at least provide the tangible evidence that their donation has an impact.
