Challenge
„drive“ is the corporate magazine by ZF Friedrichshafen AG. The company is headquartered in Friedrichshafen, Germany and a global leading tech corporation in power transmission and chassis technology 121 production companies in 27 countries.

Via the app, interactive storytelling from reports, illustrations and picture galleries show ZF as an attractive employer, presents production branches and technologies as well as people from the company.

Besides presenting the corporation to the public, the app was produced in order to attract the attention especially of young engineers – high potentials that ZF seeks to employ. The app was produced in German and English language and adds interactive elements to the print mag highlights (such as a Shanghai map), optimized for tablets. We aimed at producing an equally clear and user-friendly app for smartphones as well.
 
Result
When designing the app we focused on three colour codes in order to differentiate the main parts in the mag from another (technology, company, engagement).

The mag’s structure is modular, with every chapter enclosed and to be selected via table of content. Users find navigation via the transparent „hot button“, not having to painstakingly click or swipe through the whole mag.

As support for storytelling, we overhauled contents dynamically – be it with interactive interviews, voice overs, ambient background videos and sounds, parallax effects, „breathing colors“, animated typo or the „motion cover“.

We created an intuitive magazine experience for smartphones and tablets with strong appeal especially to young high potentials from the automotive engineering industry.
