As a youngster Gerad Taylor was exceptionally curious about the final frontier. He set his life course to becoming an astronaut.

As Gerad grew up his curiosity for space was catered to by the TV series UFO which was a Gerry Anderson creation that first aired in 1970. Exploring the themes of adultery, divorce and drug use within the context of scantily clad humans battling aliens with a habit of harvesting human organs the TV show scored high with adult audiences and quickly rose to cult status.

At some point whilst watching UFO Gerad must have questioned working for NASA as the best course to take if he was really going to explore our “final” frontiers. Because this racy Sci Fi TV show seemed to push beyond space itself and into themes that not even rocket scientists could answer. Art seemed a better vehicle for Gerad to explore boundaries.

So when the Adelaide Cabaret Festival briefed Gerad to paint Mitzi as a galactic voyaging, vixen, he was understandably thrilled to do it. Scroll below to see Gerad bring Mitzi into space from concept sketches to final artwork.
