Mural of Rossana Rossanda
Rossana Rossanda (1924-2020) was born Pula, Croatia, during the initial consolidation of Benito Mussolini’s Fascist regime. She was a journalist, writer, feminist, and protagonist of Italian politics. She was a participant in the partisan movement and militant members of the PCI (from which she was expelled because of critical stance towards USSR autorithorian politics) and the Italian parliament from 1963 to 1968, and she also made a huge contribution to the founding of the influential paper il manifesto, which remains the most critical daily in Berlusconi’s Italy.
