This project was an assignment for my summer elective, Dynamic Drawing. The prompt was to make a hypothetical product series, a machine, and a company which has a positive impact on the environment. Inspired by adidas X Continental collaboration for recycling used rubber tyres to make rubber soles for shoes. For this project I made a fictional company called tread which has a hypothetical machine which processes used tyres to make sustainable consumer goods.
The Machine
The perspective layout of this hypothetical machine was made on Illustrator using 3D tool. The machine takes in used tyres, chops them to small pieces, uses heat treatment & hydraulic press to flatten the pieces, and lastly the supply chain diverges to make several products.
Branding
I am using a simple logotype as the identity of Tread. I wanted the logo to be very recognizable and simple. The branding colors are inspired by the famous NYC yellow cabs and somehow links the company with automotive industry.
Mockups
During the ideation phase, I figured out the use of such products and they are: products should be heavy duty, should withstand wear and tear, should have high friction, should have some level of flexibility and maintain its shape. I made mockups for mobile phone cases, cutting mats, and table mats.
