This is an animated GIF featuring Dr. Ana Belen Sanchez-Prieto in a video from the online class “Deciphering Secrets: The Illuminated Manuscripts of Medieval Europe” (https://www.coursera.org/learn/medieval-europe) demonstrating how the ductus is used for the letter “A” on Inkscape (https://inkscape.org/) using her Wacom tablet and a stylus.
Additional features shown and/or used on Inkscape, from Spanish to English:
Ancho (Width): 15
Estrechar (Thinning): 10
Ángulo (Angle): 30
Fijación (Fixation): 90
Masa (Mass): 2
Note: I didn’t do this as part of any project. I just did this for fun, since I’m already doing animated GIFs for the Japanese movie, “Hitsudan Hostess” on DeviantArt, which features the main character’s written communication: https://www.deviantart.com/sena1287/gallery/80068851/hitsudan-hostess-animated-gifs
I know and understand a little Spanish, so it wasn’t a problem watching this instructor use a Spanish interface and try to follow along using the English interface that I downloaded, even though I was using my laptop and a mouse instead. Also, I wanted to translate the additional features used from Spanish to English, in case anyone else wanted to try doing it on Inkscape, which is free and open source.
