A final year university project exploring the dated use of “fonts created by stuffy old white men” such as Times New Roman.
The lettrines were created using common food mold and bacteria cultured on sheets of linen. The concept derived from having “Times” as a typeface slowly decompose as a result of the mold and bacteria rendering the font illegible and thus “expired”. The final product was mounted inside a shadow box and pinned into place for display, much like rare and extinct insects.
