The Bub Hub - A Brave Life Event

On the 1st-3rd September 2021, I was apart of Impact Lab 2's design intensive. A 3 day collaborative experience in a trans-disciplinary groups, to design a product or system in response to a community partner design brief. As part of this design intensive, we were lucky enough to connection to was 'A Brave Life'.

A Brave life is a non-profit organisation that is passionate about encouraging and empowering young women to know their worth, to dream big and to live live BRAVE. Focusing on Education and assistance for Teen Mothers, encouraging them to finish their education and providing assistance along every step of their journey's.

Our concept solution was:
We did some research and found that the average cost of a new-born in it’s first year of life can be over $10,000! Now consider this... How much money did you have to your name at 17 years old? We are here today to provide an interactive solution to the financial demands of motherhood for teenagers who find themselves thrown into the chaos of being a young mum.
The Bub Hub is a pop-up event in your local parks or community spaces. Young women can have access to all kinds of baby essentials such as onesies, high-chairs, car seats, prams, cribs and plenty more. All kindly donated by mums whose little ones have out-grown them. At the rate that babies grow, purchasing all of these items brand new is hardly an investment unless they’re passed on to as many young families in need as possible!
The Bub Hub is a recurring event held at numerous locations so that young mums and mums-to-be can register to borrow or share they’re items while becoming involved in a small community of connected people where they can feel validated, supported and respected.
We believe the Bub Hub is the perfect solution to the financial struggles of teen mums as it provides an array of useful items to those young women who need that little bit of extra support. We are providing an opportunity to be surrounded by supportive and caring people where even things like interview or office attire could make a world of difference to a teen mum looking for work. We believe this is the way A Brave Life can inspire these young women to dream big and live life brave and we hope that you agree.
