KERF is space saving chair that you can put it on a hanger and store it like clothing in wardrobe. it is always ready for quick set up to serve incoming friends and family.
intentions are to enrich plywood, make it flexible and fold it like paper origami.
designed for practical people who are living in small spaces.
it is named after kerfing technique; its inspired by and optimized for the CNC milling process to save production time and cost.
kerfing is a great technique of bending plywood by patterned cutting once for desired curvature, but not suitable for repetitive, long term bending as it would cause the veneer layer to crack. So I decided to use thick leather instead, as it can withstand repetitive bending cycles and act as hinge that can last for a long time.
