Recreating a Website

After our professor gave us an assignment to find a website and recreate it from scratch my mind began scrambling to think through all of the websites I have seen while surfing the Web. I couldn't seem to think of any that would be interesting and challenging, but still fun to recreate. After hours, yes hours, of typing in URLs, I finally decided that the Bloomingdale's home page would work for the assignment. I started with a screen shot of the Bloomingdale's website and decided I was going to transform the layout into a new website that would encompass everything a bride needs for her wedding.
Above is the completed recreated website, which I named The Knot. Using Photoshop, I was able to transform each bride, after using the lasso tool to individualize her, and create an effect that makes each bride look a specific distance away. I followed a similar procedure to create the small montage of cakes. Every bride knows how important the shoes are to the overall wedding- after all, you have to be standing on them for hours. I thought it was important to show more than one angle of the shoe. Trying to mimic the original layout of the Bloomingdale's website, I added a lower layer but specialized this area for the groomsmen. Most brides take this area into their hands as well, so I figured incorporating an area where a bride could look through tie colors and suit options was important.
