The multi-headed hound of Hades has been entrusted with the task of guarding the very Gates of Hell. He prevents the souls of the deceased from ever leaving the underworld, although the fearsome Cerberus can be tricked into letting one pass, as proven by Orpheus and Heracles. He is indeed very loyal to both the King and the Queen, just like any dog would forge a deep true bond with their master.
