I've been sketching with colored pencils lately. If I keep it up, maybe one will inspire my next painting.
Flower Fairy
This sketch has all my favorite things to draw in it: a pretty lady, flowers, and wrinkly cloth. I didn't have much photo reference for this one. The pose is based on a photo of myself, but the rest is just imagination.
I really like the way the drawing used to look before I colored it. The fairy looks more playful. She also looks like she's holding her breath. Anyway, it's a good expression that kind of got lost in the colored version.
Little Portrait
I drew a tiny portrait on a little square of paper. My idea is to draw little things for friends I have not yet met. In other words, I try to draw things in the morning with the intention of giving those drawings to people I meet during the day. So far I've made four friends this way. Well... I haven't seen or heard from them again, but at least it's a friendly thing to do, I guess. And it motivates me to draw.
