Clean Cut
The idea for this project came about when I made a portrait of my friend Cali, who donated a kidney to one of his daughters. Of course we made much of the huge scar left by the surgery. Later it occurred to me that we might have added a nice visual echo by having Cali sewing a button.
I then realised that this motif would work well for a fashion shoot centred on tailoring. While developing my ideas the term
'clean-cut' came to mind, and from that point the ideas for all the images were generated very quickly.
