The files are stored on a server by the cloud storage services, and you just have to share a link, and one can click on the link and download the file from the server it has been shared to. Most people prefer cloud storage services to Transfer Large Files or for Online Data Transfer as the cloud storage services offer high speed for downloading files. Another advantage is that the file can be stored in the cloud storage service for as long as you want, so you can access it anytime, anywhere. 

There are other ways of file sharing, but these two are the most commonly used ones. Other methods include over a messaging application, using an operating system or sharing a whole computer.
