A bespoke glass art installation to create a focal point in response to a highly designed interior, this 4m high window exploits the changing light qualities of dichroic glass due to the variable viewpoints from the stairs and first floor level.
The design, accommodating the request to maintain through-vision, incorporates two elements relating to the dynamic line that curves upwards through the height of the window: The concept of energy generated by the fragmentation of light and the background grid, which acts as a counterpoint to the main movement and a bridge to the architectural frame.
The main concept, the Fragmentation of Light, found its natural glass expression through the use of dichroic glass laminated to the internal surface. With its specific features to change colour, from different viewpoints, light changes and in reflection it is complimented by the subtle intricacy of the background grid of highly controlled acid tones and stipple etch to one interfaced surface of the double glazed units
