El sacerdote sin cabeza, también conocido como el Cura, Fraile o Padre sin cabeza, es un personaje perteneciente a una leyenda colonial del folclor latinoamericano, el cual es descrito como el fantasma de un sacerdote sin su cabeza.
En Costa Rica, en la ciudad de Cartago, capital colonial del país, también corre la leyenda de que el padre sin cabeza se aparecería en las ruinas de la antigua iglesia destruida por los sucesivos terremotos de 1841 y 1910. La causa sería un horrible sacrilegio, cuando un furioso enamorado, por amor a una mujer bellísima, dio muerte, sobre las gradas del altar, al sacerdote en el momento en que este consagraba la hostia. En otra versión de esta misma leyenda, tanto el novio como el cura son hermanos, enamorados de la misma mujer, y es el cura el que da muerte a su hermano en el momento de la boda, razón por la cual luego es decapitado, y por la misma causa, su fantasma se aparece en dichas ruinas. Este asesinato es también la razón, según la leyenda, por la que dicha iglesia no puede ser reconstruida.
