Brand
My primary objective is to use a brand to narrow my efforts to accelerate my photographic progress. The customer is primarily me, but also the Royal Photographic Society with whom I hope to pursue a distinction.

My brand concept is an straight documentary landscape one, covering both natural and urban environments in Britain without any misleading image manipulation.

My intent is to provide a number of impactful images to attract viewers but to underpin them with scenes that subtly add a narrative concerning factors that affect the landscape both positively and negatively.

The brief was to 'create' six on brand images but I have had insufficient opportunity this week to visit a diverse set of locations that would more fully show the intent. These six images do however provide examples of how I might treat a particular location (in this case a city). Some images show sympathetic development with world heritage surrounded by, or reflected in, modern architectures. Some images fit the brand in that they may draw viewers.

I am contemplating the switch to a monochrome approach for my core work, although I do not wish to preclude colour as a choice.

I have created other images during the timeframe of the course which supplement the wider aims of my brand. These additional images that relate to this brief may be found in the following projects.
Week 4 (the heritage and underbelly of my local town).
Week 6 (showing the fishing industry and coastal erosion).
Week 7 version 2 (a church falling into dereliction in an idyllic location).

In addition I have produced a series of images that follow the brand in a draft unpublished project but which cannot be shared as it contravenes the course rules on SOI sharing.

Footnote
I captured these images as an experiment - to pretend that my brand was a roving photographer working a monochrome project that visits UK locations 'A place at a time'. I realise now that these images are not as 'off brand' as I initially thought against my chosen landscape genre. For each of the images I have tried to reflect the buildings as if they were mountains, cliffs or waterfalls.

The images were captured in a spare hour between viewing Don McCullin's exhibition at the Tate, Liverpool and catching my train. After being immersed in the images of Mr McCullin my images seem unimportant, but I did rather enjoy capturing them anyway.

My brand is still 'work in progress'.
Reserve Image
The following image was included in the panel until a fellow student identified that my image count was seven, not six as specified in the brief. I selected this image for removal but moved it to this section to retain context to the comment that I received.

My reason for removing this particular image is that more of a street style image than the others in the set.
