VIA RAIL

Via Rail is the main train service connecting Canada from coast to coast. During the pandemic, the service was held to a minimum, preventing 4.39 millions of usual users from traveling.

In 2020, we all entered a new, unfamiliar reality that caught us all off-guard with
lockdowns and quarantines. Quite suddenly, the movement of our lives almost came
to a stop. We lost our mobility and all felt like life was at a standstill.

But with vaccination going at full speed, we are starting to see the light at the end
of the tunnel. There’s a universal air of anticipation in the world right now as we get closer

to returning to normal, back in motion.

To invite Canadians to get back on the train, we decided to explore the symbolic canvas
of a train station in which time has stopped, showing a world of frozen people.

It’s the departure of the train that is the catalyst that brings them back to life,
moving again.

With this film, we wanted to explore the emotion of anticipation.That yearning for freedom and the feeling of knowing something big is just about to happen.

To do that, we used a Phantom camera filming at 1000 FPS to stretch out tiny increments of time. Then, we start moving at full speed with the characters. Everything rushes in
all directions, as if time is going faster than normal. It's intense and strong, making us feel liberated, moving with the train again.
