Faces of Frank is a satirical, entertaining and original clothing brand that doesn’t take itself too seriously. It communicates what you’re often thinking but could never say to the Helens and Daves in your life. It’s you being Frank.
Being frank doesn’t have to be grim. The imagotype was created to represent the graphic identity in a playful and fresh manner. A clever rearrangement of the principal letters of the brand takes it from a serious to a cheerful place. A face has been conceived, just one of many...
For each aspect of the t-shirt design, I wanted to create a cohesive DIY look and feel. The original texts arose from real everyday experiences from mundane home and office life to mediocre social events with friends. The absolute directness of the text is reinforced by the black letters against a plain white fabric. I deliberately chose the inoffensive Hind typography to help project how ordinary and common these thoughts are.
The 1970s Letraset clip-art faces inject humour into the design while maintaining a fresh homemade appearance. The characters we see can be reused with different texts reminding us just how ordinary it is to think this way about all of the Helens and Daves there are in the world.
