What is infrared photography ?
Ok. I'll (try to) keep it simple  😅Let's assume for a moment that the sunlight sent out by our good old Mr Sun can be broken down into three major parts (at least when we talk about digital photography).

Think about it as three drawers in which you could find:
1 - some UltraViolets (UV)...you know them...they give you sun tan...and sunburn ! (actually there are 3 different kinds of UV, but let's keep it simple as of now)
2 - Visible light (VIS), well, for us mortal humans (i.e. all the colors visible in a beautiful rainbow)
3 - some InfraReds (IR or near IR, not to be confused with far IR : thermal radiation and heat)
I'm using digital cameras (and I modify them as well), to shoot IR, sometimes UV, and even some kind of mixture of both...
Black & white Infrared Photography is the technique to isolate and photography only infrared light. There is no color information there, because we are leaving (filtering) out all visible light.
Color Infrared Photography is a mix between some visible light and quite a lot of near Infrared light. That's why these we can see unusual colors or surreal ambiences. We are now entering into a world where color perception is new for us !
Wishing you a good journey into this oneiric universe, quite far away from reality, but actually not that far !
